Hi! My name's Rob. I'm a senior software engineer at a video streaming company. I mainly work on our webplayer, but contribute to many projects with many technologies such as Java/Spring Boot, Cloudflare Workers, and UI work with React and Svelte.

My professional goals change and mature over time, but my long term vision is to be both deeply technical, and to be able to bridge the needs of organizations/businesses with excellent software decisions. As I grow in my career, I strive to maintain a balance between growing technical skills and developing an understanding of product and business contexts to inform technical decisions made by our teams.

Software is also a hobby of mine. I enjoy exploring new languages and tooling at home. My favorite languages are Rust, ReScript, Moonbit, and Kotlin. Rust in particular strikes an excellent balance between procedural and functional programming that I really enjoy. When it comes to writing front ends, my favorite UI framework is Svelte.

On a personal note, faith and family are important to me. I'm married with three sons and have a lot to reflect on besides just software. You might see some of these topics come up in my blog if you happen to read them.
